Killie boss Stu had same issue that forced Kennedy to go under the knife

MATTY KENNEDY is set to miss the opening months of Kilmarnock's season after hip surgery.

The wide man, who sat out most of the second half of last term, had the op on Tuesday. And boss Stuart Kettlewell feels Kennedy's pain - because he endured a comparable complaint later in his own playing career.

Kettlewell said: “Matty has been through a pretty serious operation.

“I've had this similar type of thing, although I was a lot further down the line in a worse position than Matty.

“But the medical guys and consultants have identified what that is. It seems it has been a success. So, it’s just about getting him into the recovery stage.”
