LIAM RUSSELL came in from the cold to fire up Ayr en route toa 1-0 win at Airdrie.

Keeper Russell made his first appearance in 11 months as Mark McKenzie met an Ethan Walker cutback to net the games only goal in 19 minutes.

The Honest Men were forced to hold on for the final half hour with 10 men after Marco Rus picked up a second yellow as they moved into third place.
