Hooked on telly

THIS time of year has plenty of time for gettogethers and building family traditions.

I can’t remember a time when I didn’t watch World's Strongest Man over the new year, it’s just part of the season and something that I now text my elderly mum about rather than sitting around watching with her in the school holidays.

The extra days off must just give you some time to pick up some armchair fandom, all of a sudden there's darts experts and you can get swept along.

Oddly enough as the angler in the family, the BBC’s Gone Fishing has become a bit of a touchstone for them with me.

It's watching John Wilson and Paul Young so now theres a primetime TV show and Christmas Special that's light on the technical side of fishing but full of the intangibles that make a day’s fishing great.
