He was mocked but then mirrored
Daily Record
|January 24, 2026
I'VE grown up with King Charles and, during the past 50 years, I've watched him being mocked relentlessly for talking about nature and worrying about the planet.
There were jokes about the do-gooder brigade and he was famously ridiculed for talking to plants.
Back then, being so keen on harmony with nature all sounded a bit airy-fairy but he was so far ahead of his time.
If this documentary is watched by younger people they will realise that he is, and always has been, an incredibly sincere and deep-thinking environmentalist.
Charles remains utterly committed to what most people will agree is a decent and much-needed strategy to stop destroying nature in the way that we are.
Instead, we must protect it and accept that - as he puts it we are "part of it, not apart from it".
