Fears wind farm plan near £500k TV home could affect local airfield
A SCOT whose stunning airfield home featured on TV show Grand Designs warned that a nearby wind farm could ruin his business.
Colin MacKinnon's quirky home in his own mini-airport in Lanarkshire took six years to build and was praised by the show's host Kevin McCloud.
But Colin fears plans to construct a windfarm close to his premises would make it too risky for pilots to take off and land, putting his Strathaven Airfield at risk of closure.
The wind farm development has now been rejected amid fears over aviation safety.
Objecting to the South Brownhill Farm project, Colin said: "The turbulence produced by wake vortices will create a hazard for pilots."
