OVER THE TOP Goodwin slammed criticism

- BY SCOTT BURNS

JIM GOODWIN is delighted to see Steve Clarke bury the “ridiculous criticism” he’s had over the last couple of years by taking Scotland to the World Cup.

Clarke, 62, can now lay claim to being the national side's greatest-ever manager, having led the country to back-to-back Euros and achieved a first World Cup appearance in 28 years after Tuesday's remarkable 4-2 win over Denmark.

He faced calls to be sacked after the team flopped at Euro 2024 where they followed up a heavy defeat by hosts Germany with a draw against Switzerland and a loss to Hungary.

Dundee United boss Goodwin thinks the flak was unjustified and said: “I'm delighted for Steve Clarke.
