ANGLERS are not known for protesting. Most would rather be standing quietly by the water than outside a government building.

IT WAS a case of shock and awe when Greg Forrest landed this gigantic Lock Awe pike on the fly, a heavyweight champion that earned him Daiwa Fish of the Week.

So the gathering outside the Scottish Parliament on Wednesday felt significant. Not confrontational. Not noisy. But significant.

‘Anglers, ghillies, commercial fishermen and conservationists stood together as Wildfish.org, Angling Scotland, Scottish Gamekeepers Association, the Salmon Fishing Club and many more joined forces in Edinburgh to highlight the crisis facing wild Atlantic salmon and to ask MSPs to take stronger action to protect them.
