DUNFERMLINE captain Kyle Benedictus has been spared a jail term after he left a man unconscious and with a broken bone in his neck in a bar brawl.

The burly centre-half left Dean Wilkes laid out cold in the spat last March. He put him in a headlock and repeatedly punched him leading to the pair falling to the floor.

Mr Wilkes smashed his head off the bar.

Benedictus, 34, fled Freddy’s Bar in Edinburgh but was arrested shortly after and charged with the assault.
