DOES BIG WILFRIED REALLY GET IT?

If the Celtic boss isn't fully aware of what this hostile environment is all about he'll surely find out at the weekend when he's transported into eye of a storm, the likes of which he'll never have experienced before

- >>>KEITH JACKSON

THERE'S one huge question hanging over the east end of Glasgow as Celtic stagger towards the new year on the back of yet another thumping defeat.

Does Big Wilf really get it? Does this laid back, accident prone Frenchman truly understand what he's got himself involved in and does he have any idea of where things are likely to go from here if he should trip up again when the neighbours come first footing at lunchtime on Saturday?

Because if Rangers send his side crashing to a sixth loss in eight games to leapfrog them or even draw level with them on points in the Premiership table, then the reaction will be bordering on thermonuclear.

So again, does Wilfried Nancy really get that? Or is he totally detached from the ferocious reality of life in Glasgow's footballing furnace?

If he isn't yet fully aware of what this hostile environment is all about then he'll surely find out for himself at the weekend when he's transported into the eye of a storm, the likes of which he will never have experienced before.

But - and this is the crux of the matter where Nancy's relationship with the Celtic fans is concerned - it might be too late by then.

Back-to-back wins over Aberdeen and Livingston might have bought the new manager and his unbendable philosophy a bit of badly needed breathing space. Those victories may even have convinced him to double down on his own convictions as to how the game ought to be played.

Nancy is so welded to his own beliefs that he may have turned a blind eye to the fact his side still leaked three goals in those games, with an undermanned defence which swings open like a barn door whenever the wind blows.
