Unbeaten league records point to a capital stalemate

THE first Edinburgh derby of last season was a relegation six-pointer with Hearts and Hibs both in poor shape after terrible starts.

But 12 months on it's a totally different story with the Jambos sitting top of the pile and both teams boasting unbeaten league records after six games.

There's a sense of optimism surging through Tynecastle after Tony Bloom's investment in the club and some fans are even dreaming of a title push with Celtic and Rangers in poor shape.

If Bloom can indeed turn Hearts into genuine contenders after a £10million investment it will be some feat, given that sum barely covers the rental of a city centre flat for the duration of the Edinburgh festival these days.

Hibs did their rivals a favour last week by holding Celtic to a draw in Glasgow, with that result sending Derek McInnes’ men two points clear at the top.
