Scot's family in desperate appeal for help to pay Bangkok hospital bills

- BY RUTH SUTER

A SCOTTISH expat has lost both of his legs in a horror hit-and-run in Thailand.

Willie Braid, 54, was riding a motorbike when he was involved in the smash with a lorry in Bangkok.

He was rushed to hospital with life-changing injuries while the driver of the other vehicle involved allegedly fled the scene.

Willie, originally from Muirdrum, near Carnoustie in Angus, was put in an induced coma and suffered kidney failure due to the severity of the injuries to his legs.

As a result of the collision on July 27, both the limbs have had to be amputated below the knee.

He is now receiving round-the-clock care in hospital.

His sister, June, has since flown to the Thai capital to be by her brother's bedside.
