Parent of dog handler who died in Afghanistan wants a full apology and worked with American military
DONALD Trump has been branded a “total coward” by the mother of a Scots soldier killed in Afghanistan after he claimed Nato troops had stayed behind the frontline during the conflict.
Jane Duffy, whose son Liam Tasker was shot by the Taliban in March 2011, called on the US President to make a full apology to all British troops who served in the country.
Trump faced a furious backlash from forces’ families last week after he downplayed the role of Nato during the war in Afghanistan - and doubted whether the military alliance would be there for the US “if we ever needed them”.
He later backtracked by praising British troops as being “among the greatest of all warriors” following a phone conversation with PM Keir Starmer at the weekend.
Jane, 66, said: “It’s not even an apology. He says something, then he backtracks. He’s a total coward.
