BRITS hoping to jet off for a winter break will enjoy hot savings as bills for food and drink and other must-haves have fallen in most long-haul resorts.

In some places, the cost of essentials has slumped by almost a fifth since last year, according to Post Office Travel Money.

Sterling's changing value against local currencies is the big factor, with people getting more bang for their tourist buck. But that is after paying for flights.

More than 66 per cent of the 30 far-flung destinations surveyed were lower than in 2024.

Vietnam emerged as the cheapest, as a "basket" of 10 items in the coastal resort of Hoi An would typically cost £58.81.
