Rohl’s Rangers almost pay price for being careless in front of goal with a need for firepower so apparent

AT one point, big Youssef Chermiti had a shot that ended up as a Motherwell throw-in inside Rangers’ half.

Later on, three players in blue shirts were falling over themselves inside the box as they failed miserably to put this game to bed.

In fact, Gers wasted so many opportunities to score on the counterattack towards the end of this game, a few didn't even make the Sportscene highlights.

That just about sums up the home side’ finishing prowess - or lack of it - on Saturday.

And it's what prompted a look of sheer frustration on gaffer Danny Rohl's face at full-time.

To his eternal credit, the German has somehow managed to tighten Rangers up at the back.

Incredibly, despite a raft of forced weekly alterations, they now have the best defensive record in the Premiership.

But solving the problem at the other end might be even tougher. Despite boasting a trio of strikers who cost around £17million between them, scoring goals is a major issue which has to be fixed in January.

Afterwards, the manager called on the Ibrox board to be “brave and bold” in the transfer window.

He urged them to be “all in” when it comes to decision making.

That coincided with Rohl’s assessment of their profligacy in front of goal in the second half against Jens Berthel Askou’s side.

He said: “We created so many opportunities. Now it's the next step - to score more goals.

“We had a lot of good moments but weren't clinical enough in the transition.
