Amorim closes in on Cunha & Mbeumo as squad needs major overhaul
MANCHESTER United's proactive start to the transfer window is helping return some optimism to Old Trafford after a dismal season.
United ended the campaign in 15th in the Premier League and a Europa League final defeat to Tottenham in Bilbao denied them entry into Europe.
But they have shown they mean business this summer, concluding a £62.5million deal for Wolves playmaker Matheus Cunha and stepping up efforts to sign Brentford attacker Bryan Mbeumo.
There is plenty more to do to give Ruben Amorim the squad he wants, however. Here we take a look at what comes next.
SEAL MBEUMO DEAL
The priority is to get a deal for Mbeumo over the line. United have made an opening bid of £45m plus £10m in addons and while that falls short of the Bees’ asking price, talks are continuing. Brentford want a similar fee to the Cunha transfer and United are likely to have to raise that offer to seal a deal for the 25-year-old.
But he has made it clear he wants to move to Old Trafford and that is one transfer that should get wrapped up.
