Tunnel traffic restrictions this week during repairs after crane inferno sparked travel chaos

DRIVERS have been warned there will be traffic restrictions in the Conwy Tunnel overnight for most of this coming week.
Some lanes will be closed from today to Thursday overnight between 7.30pm and 7am with a 3.2-metre width restriction during those times.
The update was posted on X by Traffic Wales North. No specific reason was given for the measures but transport secretary Ken Skates has previously said tunnel closures or traffic management measures may be necessary for permanent repairs following a lorry fire on Thursday, June 19.
Thousands of drivers and passengers had journeys disrupted as they spent hours in slow-moving or stationary vehicles in sweltering heat, and were diverted.
