RNLI gives advice to parents after kids go missing

RESCUE volunteers leapt into action when three children were reported missing in the water off a packed Gwynedd beach.

Although the trio were eventually found, the RNLI was moved to issue advice to anxious parents who find themselves in a “state of panic” on the shoreline.

The call-out was part of a double shout on Bank Holiday Monday when Barmouth beach was “extremely busy” with holidaymakers.

After making their way through the crowds, a four-man crew from Barmouth's lifeboat station first headed out to a dinghy in possible need of assistance.

Located some 200 metres offshore, the dinghy was crewed by a man who declined help.

As his boat was on an outgoing tide, he was nevertheless urged to make his way back to the shore.
