Popular cafe shuts due to visitor 'abuse'

TEMPORARY CLOSURE 'TO MAKE IT A SAFER PLACE TO WORK' SAY OWNERS
A POPULAR roadside cafe and restaurant in Gwynedd has been forced to close temporarily because of the amount of "abuse" it's been getting from passing visitors. Cowshed (Y Beudy) said its staff have been suffering from "threats" and "discrimination" from people misusing its facilities.
The restaurant, on the site of a former petrol station, lies off the A498 near Tremadog. A gateway site between Porthmadog and Eryri (Snowdonia), it has attracted a loyal clientele by offering mouthwatering cakes, paninis, hog roast sausage rolls and “Big Welsh Pasties”.
The site also has a self-service area and a gift shop, with a terraced seating area at the rear. But while its location is ideal for passing traffic, the Cowshed said more and more people are using it as a free rest stop.
In a social media statement, the business said its restaurant and toilets were “currently unavailable” while its owners reconsider their options. They said: “Unfortunately over the past year(s), we have sadly seen increasing abuse of our small, family-run business.
