INTEREST IN ISLAND SALE 'PHENOMENAL'

AN ABANDONED island that has been placed up for sale has attracted "phenomenal interest".

Ynys Gifftan is an 18-acre island situated in the Dwyryd Estuary, close to the Italianate village of Portmeirion in Gwynedd.

It was given to Lord Harlech's ancestors in the early 1700s by Queen Anne, hence the name 'Anne's Gift Island.

It is understood it remains part of the Glyn Estate, owned by the 7th Baron Harlech.
