Food waste saving start-up raising funds for ramp-up

FOOD waste-saving startup Mimica has raised over £300k as it ramps up production of its bumpy labels at its new factory in Wrexham.

Mimica’s Bump Tags and Bump Caps are applied to food packaging. They start smooth to the touch and turn bumpy when food and drinks go off. Because the labels are temperature-sensitive, they are able to more accurately inform consumers of when the product has actually spoiled.

Mimica calibrates the Bump Tags to the specific food in the packaging - meaning food producers can safely extend expiry dates and drastically cut food waste.
