Flying start for young star Clarke

RISING Everton star Justin Clarke has made a flying start to the season after a major summer for the Blues.

The 17-year-old scored for the Under-21s in midweek as Paul Tait’s side played Doncaster Rovers’ senior team in the EFL Trophy.

The teenager picked up the ball on the right, near the corner flag, and produced a scintillating piece of skill to chop inside his man before unleashing a powerful effort into the roof of the net from a tight angle.

It was the third goal of the season already for Clarke. While the stoppage time equaliser was not enough to help Everton take anything from the trip to Yorkshire - the hosts went on to find a dramatic later winner - the goal represented the continuation of Clarke's rise.

The winger enjoyed a positive season with the U18s last season after making the switch from AFC Wimbledon for an undisclosed fee.
