Elfyn ready for Sardinia challenge

ELFYN EVANS is preparing for the second in a trio of tough consecutive gravel events at Rally Italia Sardegna next week.

The Dolgellau ace Elfyn Evans continues to lead the World Rally Championship drivers' standings, 30 points in front of his Toyota team-mate Kalle Rovanperä and 32 ahead of Sebastien Ogier as they head into the sixth round.

While the gravel tracks of Sardinia appear similar on paper to those on the last round in Portugal - where Evans finished sixth - the event usually provides even more demands, with temperatures exceeding 30 degrees centigrade punishing cars, crews and tyres.
