Coastguard called out as electric wheelchair user gets stuck in sand

AN ELECTRIC wheelchair user accompanied by carers issued a mayday call when the wheelchair became stuck in sand on an Anglesey beach.

Rhosneigr and Holyhead Coastguard Rescue Teams (CRT) responded to the call for help on Traeth Llanddwyn, next to Newborough Forest, on October 6.

To allow access by disabled users, site manager Natural Resources Wales (NRW) has installed a Mobi-Mat track near the main beach car park.

With Anglesey Council, NRW also offers a free, big-wheeled beach wheelchair. However, this is currently unavailable.
