He'll be sentenced to life for brutal killing of 'extremely vulnerable lady, 69, for reasons he couldn't explain at trial
A man who killed a 'wonderful' grandmother in her own bedroom has been found guilty of her murder. Dean Mears had admitted the manslaughter of 69-year-old Catherine Flynn but denied her murder.
During a nine-day trial at Caernarfon Crown Court, the jury had heard Mears, 34, of Bodelwyddan Avenue, Kinmel Bay, broke into her home in Cefndy Road, Rhyl, last October.
He had killed her there but had no explanation for his actions, the court heard.
The court had heard that she had been stamped on by the intruder.
Under cross examination, prosecutor Andrew Jones KC asked him: "Why did you stamp repeatedly on her face?" Mears replied: "I don't remember."
Mr Jones asked: "Were you intending to kill her?" Mears answered: "I don't remember what my intentions were."
