Turning back the clock... tower takes center stage in facelift
the area where Rhyl High Street meets the prom road
A DEVELOPER has been appointed for an £11m revamp of the promenade road and town centre of Rhyl.
Denbighshire council - backed by funds from UK Government - wants to make major changes to enhance the centre of the resort.
Rhyl has struggled in recent years as attractions have closed and major retailers relocated away from the town centre.
Money has been secured from the Local Regeneration Fund to regenerate the town and the council wants to revamp and realign areas around the high street and promenade.
It has seen the Cabinet recommend the appointment of Balfour Beatty for the delivery of the two projects, with a total maximum contract value of £11,302,433.
Cllr Barry Mellor, Lead Member for the Environment and Transport, said the prom works will focus on the area around the clock tower.
