Murder jury can know of serial killer's convictions

A SERIAL killer who murdered five women is due to stand trial next month accused of killing a teenager 27 years ago.

A judge ruled yesterday that a jury can be told about Steve Wright's 2008 convictions for the murders in Ipswich in 2006.

Wright, 67, who is serving a whole-life jail sentence, is charged with the kidnap and murder of 17-year-old Victoria Hall, whose body was found five days after she vanished following a night out in Felixstowe, Suffolk, in September 1999.

Wright was charged with Victoria's murder in 2024 but reporting restrictions meant the media had not been able to mention the 2006 killings.
