Time MP gongs were scrapped

WHY is the honours list still going? It is now common practice for PMs to give their mates knight-hoods before they leave No10.

Boris Johnson gave his closest pals gongs when he left. They use it as an incentive while in office to keep their pals onside and then give out titles to them like sweeties.

So when MPs decide to quit, not only do they have a golden retirement package, but some also have a tax-free income from sitting in the Lords. This has always been a sickening perk of the job but when families all over the country are suffering financially, it just feels a little more galling.

The latest honours list proves without doubt that politicians should be banned from being given a title. The latest are the people who were in government for 14 years and virtually bankrupted the country. They almost destroyed our NHS and education system and left millions in debt.
