SHOPLIFTING HITS 53 REPORTS PER HOUR

SHOPLIFTING has hit a record high as crime figures have soared over the last year.

An average of 53 shoplifting offences were reported to police every hour. A total of 469,788 crimes were logged by forces in the year to June, up a third on the 365,173 recorded the previous year.
