Centrica cancels Xmas party perk for 21,000 staff... but a select few enjoy black-tie do

THE owner of British Gas has axed company-wide Christmas parties but a black-tie do for a select few went ahead as planned.

Centrica, which made a profit of £1.7billion last year, wrote to its 21,000 staff to say it would not fund the £35-per-person bash for 2025.

Instead, it urged staff to find "locally relevant ways to celebrate", including sending "virtual messages of appreciation".
