TAYLOR ALLEN and Alfie Chang put Walsall in control as they look to secure promotion at the second attempt.

Walsall led League Two for a long stage this season and thought they had secured the final automatic spot on the last day until Bradford pipped them with their dramatic winner.

But the Saddlers will take a healthy lead back to the Bescot Stadium on Friday night for the second leg of this play-off semi-final.

And head coach Mat Sadler praised Walsall's “fighting performance”.
