BRIAN the penguin is hardly a high flyer - in fact he can't fly at all, and he is the oldest in his colony.

But he is competing to be crowned Peng-Win Champion of the world.

The 15-year-old elder statesman of the gentoo colony at The Deep in Hull has been shortlisted in the global March of the Penguin Madness competition.

Organised by Penguins International, it involves 48 birds from 12 species living in zoos, aquariums and museums.
