POGACAR SNUB IS MO LAUGHING MATTER

AFTER an eventful few days, there was a bit of good news for Mo Salah, and it came from the BBC.

The current Footballer of the Year was named on a six-strong shortlist for the BBC'S World Sport Star award for 2025.

For those of a certain vintage, that is the award formerly known as the Overseas Sports Personality of the Year.

Having won individual accolades at the end of the 2024/25 football season and helping Liverpool complete the task of winning the Premier League (they were six points clear at the beginning of the year), that Salah should be in contention for such an award is understandable.

But this is an award for 2025 and Salah has scored 18 goals for his club across all competitions in 2025.

Yes, he finished last season as the Premier League's Golden Boot winner, but has scored only 15 Premier League goals in 2025, six of which have been penalties.
