US politicians' fury as it emerges 1m more Epstein files just surfaced | Lawyers working over Christmas to prepare documents for release

DONALD Trump's government was accused of an illegal cover-up after it emerged more than a million Jeffrey Epstein files had just been found.

The Department of Justice was already under fire for failing to release all material relating to the billionaire paedophile by the December 19 deadline.

It said the latest files will be released in the coming days, once they have all been checked by lawyers.

Robert Garcia, the highest ranking Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, said: "It's outrageous that Trump's DOJ has illegally withheld over one million documents from the public."

Senator Chuck Schumer added: "Justice delayed is justice denied. Release the files. Follow the law." The DOJ said it had been forced to send an emergency request for volunteers to work over Christmas, as more than 200 lawyers pore over the documents.
