Offender found as Lammy vows to 'grip' crisis

DAVID Lammy has vowed to "grip" the crisis in the prison service after a wrongly released convict was captured yesterday, ending a huge manhunt.

The Deputy Prime Minister hit out at the Tories for leaving the system on the brink of collapse.

It came as Algerian national Brahim Kaddour-Cherif, 24, was arrested more than a week after he was released in error from HMP Wandsworth in London.

The Metropolitan Police said Kaddour-Cherif was detained after he was spotted in north London yesterday morning.

Kaddour-Cherif was freed on October 29 but police were only informed of the mistake on Tuesday.
