Fly-tipping mounts up in residential alleyway as city bin strike drags on

- BY ED CHATTERTON

LEFT TO ROT

AN alley is piled high with mattresses, fridges and festering rubbish as a bin strike rumbles on.

Residents say fly-tipping is out of control and feel abandoned by the council as it struggles to tackle the issue.

The 10ft mountain of rat-infested rubbish has even blocked some people from accessing their homes in the Stockland Green area of Birmingham.

Raj Arjan, 34, said the alleyway had always been a magnet for fly-tippers but he had never seen it this bad.

He said: "Whenever it has been cleared before, it pops back up over night. I feel like I'm living in a slum.
