Packed BA jet's brakes caught fire after co-pilot got hands mixed up

A BRITISH Airways jet caught fire after a pilot mixed up his left and right hands and had to brake hard to abort take-off, a report revealed.

He pulled back on the throttle while the aircraft was at high speed instead of the control panel, which would have lifted the nose into the air.

Firefighters put out the blaze after the Boeing 777 came to a standstill on the runway at Gatwick airport.
