Ex-socialite denials branded a whitewash book to be published

- BY CHRISTOPHER BUCKTIN US Editor and DAN WARBURTON

GHISLAINE Maxwell's statement was nothing more than a cynical bid to get her jail term reduced while protecting powerful men, victims of Jeffrey Epstein claim.

And they accused the White House of giving the disgraced socialite the chance to airbrush history while their voices are again ignored.

In an interview with deputy US attorney general Todd Blanche, convicted child sex trafficker Maxwell claimed: there was no list of famous names associated with late US paedophile Epstein; Donald Trump did nothing untoward; and Prince Andrew did not have sex with Virginia Giuffre, who claimed the royal slept with her when she was 17. The royal has repeatedly denied the allegations against him.

It came as publishing house Alfred A. Knopf said Virginia's "unsparing" memoir on child trafficking will be published in October so "that the truth is understood".

After a recording of Maxwell's prison interview was made public last Friday, one Epstein victim said: "This so-called interview is a disgrace. It’s not about truth or justice, it’s about rewriting history to protect powerful men.

"Listening to the tape and hearing Maxwell, it was obvious her words were carefully chosen to whitewash Donald Trump’s friendship with Epstein.
