IT should have been the best day of his life, but when callous road rage driver Paul Doyle ploughed his car into a crowd of Liverpool fans, it turned into the worst.

A 12-year-old boy was among thousands of supporters who flocked to the city to celebrate their team's Premier League win in May.

The lad, who cannot be named, said: "It started off as the best day ever, I was so excited to see my heroes go past on the open top bus, and the party atmosphere was amazing" But his joy turned to horror when an enraged Doyle ploughed his Ford Galaxy into the fans.

His own dashcam filmed him accelerating through the disbelieving crowd, blaring his horn while screaming "get out of the f***ing way" and "f***ing pr**ks".

Bodies were flung on to the bonnet, smashing into the windscreen as he ploughed through a sea of people. Others were dragged under the wheels or sent tumbling down the road.

The boy said: "It became the worst day of my life. I found myself on the floor having been hit by a car I did not see coming.

"I was split up from my mum. I felt lost, confused, didn't know what was happening." The boy and his mum still bear the emotional scars of May 26. He added: "I feel really upset when I see my mum crying.

"I don't understand why the man in the car has done this to me and my mum."

As Doyle's sentencing hearing began yesterday, Liverpool Crown Court heard the 54-year-old intended to cause serious harm when he drove into more than 100 fans.

The dashcam footage captured dad-of-three Doyle swerving into supporters as they walked away from the city's waterfront, as the celebrations began to die down, just before 6pm.
