Palace boss tells his side that memories of winning a trophy will last a lifetime and he recalls '98 Austria Cup like it was yesterday

GLASNER JOY IS CRYSTAL CLEAR

OLIVER GLASNER has told his Crystal Palace stars that winning the club's first-ever trophy in the FA Cup final today will stay in their hearts and minds forever.

The first Austrian to lead a team to the Wembley showpiece came to the Premier League after lifting the Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt.

But Glasner's earliest silverware was the 1998 Austrian Cup when his boyhood SV Ried side beat Sturm Graz to win their maiden major trophy.

And the Eagles boss, now 50, says he still remembers the emotions to this day.

"I wasn't nervous, but I was very disappointed because I didn't start," recalled former defender Glasner, who came on after 61 minutes. "I had appendix surgery three weeks earlier but it was a great game.

"I don't know where the medal is. But I remember the moment when you get the medal and lift the trophy.

"When you go and celebrate, when you come home. Showing the trophy to the fans and all these celebrations. All these positive feelings. These are the things that will always stay in my heart and in my mind. Now it's 27 years ago.
