O'Brien's Genealogy is apt choice for heritage handicap

GENEALOGY looks well treated for his debut in the sphere in the Trade Nation London Gold Cup Handicap (2.00) at Newbury today.

The son of Wootton Bassett, trained by Aidan O’Brien (right), showed the benefit of a promising debut second at the Curragh at the end of August when going one better at Punchestown 18 days later.

Genealogy came up short when upped to Group 3 level for the Group 3 Autumn Stakes at Newmarket in October, finishing fifth of six behind stablemate, and Derby favourite, Delacroix.

Ryan Moore's mount starts off in handicaps with a rating of 96 and, with progress assured on the fourth outing of his life, is fancied to double his career tally.
