Mirror Sport had revealed that City were ready to rival Liverpool for Guehi at the end of the season - but they have an even bigger need for him this month.

It remains to be seen whether City make a formal offer, but there is clear interest in the defender, who came close to joining Liverpool at the end of the summer transfer window.

Guehi, 25, has made it clear to Palace that he will not sign a new contract. They are resigned to losing their key defender on a free transfer next summer.
