Synagogue terrorist rushed armed police with a knife, inquest hears

THE terrorist who attacked a synagogue suffered multiple bullet wounds as he charged towards armed police with a knife, an inquest heard.

Jihad al-Shamie, 35, who was wearing a fake suicide belt, was killed by officers during his rampage at the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Crumpsall on October 2.

Two men, Melvin Cravitz, 66, and 53-year-old Adrian Daulby, died in the atrocity which happened on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar.

During his attack, al-Shamie called 999 pledging allegiance to the Islamic State terror group.

He also tried to storm the synagogue before being shot dead.
