ANCIENT ROME (5.00) spent much of last season in Group races and he went within half a length of landing the Group 2 Summer Mile at this track in July.

His fourth behind top-class Lead Artist in a Newmarket Group 3 later in the season was another smart effort.

The fast ground will be just up his street. It was officially firm when he finished third in the Arlington Million in America last summer.

He didn't cut much ice in a couple of runs in Dubai this year and the race didn't set up for his hold-up style at Newbury last month.
