Supply chains stabilise nationwide as economic centres reopen after Ditwah

All economic centres in the country are now active, said the Finance Ministry's Trade and Investment Policy Department Director General K.A. Wimalenthirarajah.

He added that economic centres were in an "alarming" position until December 2, but now all economic activities are back to normal.

With Cyclone Ditwah leaving a trail of destruction in her wake, roads, bridges, railway lines, and other infrastructure have been destroyed, and the distribution of domestic food commodities has been disrupted.

While supply points have been connected using alternative routes, Wimalenthirarajah noted that some new routes are longer than the usual ones, and this could become an issue.
