Logistics is the lifeline of global commerce, enabling the seamless flow of goods, services, and trade across borders. Sri Lanka, with its prime location along the East-West maritime corridor, has been a vital logistics hub since ancient times. Despite this legacy, the sector gained structured recognition only in recent decades.

In 1981, the Sri Lanka Logistics and Freight Forwarders Association (SLFFA) was established as the unified voice of the logistics and freight forwarding community. Further validation came in 2021 when the Ministry of Transport officially designated August 21st as National Logistics Day, acknowledging the sector’s critical role in economic growth and connectivity. Today, with over 190 members and strong affiliate networks, SLFFA leads the way in advocacy, digital transformation, capacity building, and positioning Sri Lanka as a competitive logistics gateway in the region and beyond.

The Academy of International Trade and Transport (AITT) is the official training arm of SLFFA, dedicated to advancing education and professionalism in Sri Lanka’s logistics and freight forwarding sector. AITT offers internationally recognized programs in supply chain management, logistics, and international trade, equipping students and professionals with the skills required in a fast-evolving global market. By bridging academic knowledge with real-world practices, AITT plays a crucial role in shaping the industry’s future workforce. SLFFA also offers Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) training programs, ensuring that professionals are certified and compliant with international safety and handling standards for hazardous cargo.
