MasterChef Sri Lanka, with renowned chef Peter Kuruvita and AI, set to take global culinary stage by storm
Daily FT
|August 14, 2025
INTERNATIONALLY acclaimed Australian chef and restaurateur Peter Kuruvita envisions MasterChef Sri Lanka as a platform where a multitude of aspiring home cooks will be given a voice, renewed hope, and transformative opportunities. Sri Lanka will garner global interest, culminating in the promotion of tourism and investment through this renowned culinary show.

Talking to Daily FT, Kuruvita stated that the MasterChef Sri Lanka team is currently working on utilising Artificial Intelligence (AI) to broadcast the show to any part of the world by converting the discussions on the show to the local dialect of the selected country. “We aim to make MasterChef Sri Lanka as heartwarming and personal as MasterChef Australia, and if we can take this show to the world, the opportunities for the island will be boundless.”
Kuruvita, who is inordinately passionate about his art and healthy living, wishes to utilise the MasterChef platform to spread awareness and educate the public not merely on matters culinary but on healthy eating and exercise, as well as to urge Sri Lankans to always demand for the best, in terms of produce, meat, seafood, spices, etc. that they purchase.

China’s entry into SAARC: Gateway to South Asian prosperity
\"CHINA as a full member of SAARC? At first, the idea may sound bold, even strange. But it could be the spark the region needs to move forward. For years, SAARC has carried a huge promise; a platform to connect markets, people, and ideas across South Asia. Yet political tensions have often slowed its progress. Bringing China into the fold could give SAARC fresh energy, new opportunities, and a stronger voice in the world.\"

Ozone layer: Skin of earth, shield of human wellbeing
September 16 is the day designated by the United Nations to annually honour the preservation of the ozone layer. This day was proclaimed to be dedicated to create public awareness on the ozone layer and its significance to human existence, in the year 1994. The decision to create a separate day for the protection of the ozone layer was linked to the signing of the Montreal Protocol on substances that deplete the ozone layer, way back in 1987.

Tribute to Rajiv Perera on 60th birthday
IN life we meet many people, most of whom hardly leave a trace of their passing. Some, very few in fact, leave a mark so deep that no passage of time can erase it. For me, at the very top of that list is Rajiv Perera.
