Govt. allocates Rs. 2 b for District Development Program 2025

THE Cabinet of Ministers on Monday approved allocating funds under the 2025 Budget for the implementation of the District Development Program -2025, a national-level initiative aimed at reducing poverty and accelerating regional growth.

The allocations will be made to each district based on poverty levels identified by the Department of Census and Statistics through the Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI), ensuring that resources are directed to areas with the greatest need.
"A total provision of Rs. 2,000 million has been earmarked for the program, which will be rolled out across all districts of Sri Lanka.
