Get to know a different shade of the 'White Isle', with luxury and wellness

- BY JESS FLAHERTY

Ibiza is known for its wild social scene, with long nights, packed superclubs and world-famous DJs.

But push its partying reputation to one side and get to know the north of Ibiza, which offers a taste of paradise, with a rugged coastline, serene ocean views and a relaxed atmosphere.

This is heightened at the stylish Cala San Miguel Ibiza Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton.

The adults-only venue is immediately impressive — with pristine white walls with touches of warming wood, sage green and terracotta tiling, and other nods to its Balearic setting.

Its classy and chic, with keen attention to detail that adds up to a lush and laidback vibe.

The staff couldn't be more attentive and helpful - kind and charming, they seem to genuinely care about their guests’ experience.

The two pools offer a peaceful oasis with dazzling views towards the sparkling ocean.

Stretching out on a sun lounger or canopy bed by one of the tranquil pools with a cocktail in hand is enough to make you never want to leave the resort.

But the beach is just a stone's throw away and though it's not private, it is a quiet and secluded enough spot to enjoy sunbathing or swimming in relative peace.

Style

Cala San Miguel is luxurious without being ostentatious. I stayed in one of the King Club Rooms, a spacious retreat with huge beds and a generous balcony that boasts sea and pool views.

There are comfy, generous chairs to watch the sunset from the quiet sanctuary of your room's outdoor area, and an indoor living room section where you can also take advantage of the views.

The bathrooms are perhaps more designed for couples - I went with a friend - as there’ a floor to ceiling glass window in the shower that is only coverable by a rather thin roller blind.
