Stakes high for McGinn and Co
JOHN MCGINN vowed Scotland will give “absolutely everything” to realise their World Cup dream tomorrow night after emerging from a chaotic 90 minutes in Greece.
Steve Clarke's side needed some heroics from keeper Craig Gordon to keep them in the game in Piraeus in the 42-year-old's first match in six months - but still ended up three goals down before launching a fightback.
They fell short in a 3-2 defeat but midfielder McGinn and his teammates then discovered Group C leaders Denmark had been held 2-2 at home by Belarus.
It means Scotland now have the chance to leapfrog the Danes and avoid the playoffs when they host the top seeds at Hampden in the deciding game.

Starmer left to fight a losing battle on all fronts
LOCAL elections rarely ignite much passion or interest beyond those directly involved. The verdict delivered by millions of voters this time, however, was so clear it cannot simply be dismissed as a so-called mid-term blip.
