Ford says England growing accustomed to life without Farrell as leaders step up

- Adam Hathaway

WE'RE COMING INTO OUR OWEN

GEORGE FORD believes England are getting used to life without Owen Farrell - and that could be good news for his future as decision maker in chief.

Fly-half Ford will win his 93rd cap today at Twickenham against Wales, nearly 10 years after his debut.

While Ford and Farrell played together in midfield for a good chunk of those matches, the latter's was the loudest voice.

But with the former captain out of the frame and Marcus Smith injured, Ford could get a run of games calling the shots.

Farrell stepped back from international rugby for mental health reasons but could have terminated his England with his career imminent move to Racing 92 in Paris.

Ford, 30, believes Farrell leaves a hole but England growing are accustomed to him not being around in camp.
